Description
Liposuction is the surgical removal of fat tissues from hard-to-lose areas. Dr. Gregory T. Mesna uses a thin tube called an cannula to gently break up and remove fat cells from targeted areas. Liposuction can be done on many areas of the body, often during the same surgical treatment.

Liposuction is a great procedure for treating the deep fat stores in the
body. Men and women have different kinds of fat in different areas of the
body. Men and women are built differently; men have a deep layer in the
chest and the stomach area, like two spare tires around the trunk, where
women have many more areas all over their bodies where they have a deep
layer of fat. The deep layers are accessed using small incisions in the
skin. Through those, we can put in hollow metal tubes that we can use that
we can get down to the deep fat to break it up and suck it out.
The surgery can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on how many
areas we're treating and how much fat a patient may have to be removed. The
aftereffects of the surgery are typically a reduction in the fat of the
body with clothes that will oftentimes fit better and feel better for the
patient. We encourage most patients to adhere to a lighter activity
schedule after the surgery. They will normally begin gentle massage after
about 7 to 10 days. They will also wear a compression garment for about 2
to 3 weeks after the surgery.
I tell most patients if they have a problem that bothers them once or twice
a month; they may not be good candidates for the procedure. However if they
have problems that bother them once or twice a week, they're getting to the
point where having the procedures performed will normally make them feel
better about their bodies.
There is more information for this and other procedures throughout our
website. We offer free consultations. We encourage anybody with additional
questions to contact our office to schedule an appointment.
