Description
As women age, their breasts naturally lose elasticity, causing the fat tissues in the breasts to sag. Dr. Gregory T. Mesna uses breast lift to reshape the tissue of the breast, repositioning the nipples higher on the breasts. This is a great treatment for women who have been pregnant or have breast fed in the past, as these can exacerbate sagging of the breasts.

A breast lift is a procedure that is performed to lift the breast and
elevate the nipples to a more youthful position on the chest. The procedure
is oftentimes performed for patients who have experienced sagging and
drooping of their breast, either with aging or following pregnancies.
A breast lift can be combined with any other procedure, and is oftentimes
combined with a breast augmentation. If patients have lost volume in their
breasts with aging or following pregnancies, then oftentimes, a breast
augmentation is performed to replace that lost volume. Usually, a breast
lift is performed in a fashion that tries to preserve the nipple and the
duct, the gland behind the nipple; however for any patient undergoing
surgery of the breast, we always warn them they may not be able to
breastfeed in the future.
Following a breast lift, most patients are encouraged to take approximately
1 week off from work. We also encourage them to wait 2 or 3 weeks before
resuming previous physical activities. The breast lift procedure is usually
not a very painful procedure, and they will experience some swelling and
firmness; however, those symptoms normally improve rapidly after the
surgery. A breast lift procedure can take anywhere from roughly half an
hour to 2 hours, depending on how much loose and sagging skin they have in
and around the breasts.
There is more information for this and other procedures throughout our
website. We offer free consultations. We encourage anybody with additional
questions to contact our office to schedule an appointment.
